About the company
Uptyke is an educational technology company based in Nairobi that creates inclusive and engaging digital learning content for K-12 learners with visual and hearing impairments (VI & HI)
Company Overview
About 97% of current digital learning materials for K-12 learners do not meet inclusion criteria. Uptyke has developed accessible educational digital content for K-12 learners designed with inclusion in mind. The Company is currently serving 46 special primary schools and has over 100 hybrid primary schools in the pipeline. The solution also serves home-schooling parents, impacting more than 1,000 VI & HI learners. Through government partnership, Uptyke’s content is uploaded on Digital Literacy Program (DLP) devices and has an estimated reach of about 100,000 learners who are supported by over 1,000 teachers.
Market Opportunity
A recent government survey (Kenya National Survey on Children with Disabilities and Special Needs in Education (2020)) indicated that only c. 11.4% of children with special needs and disabilities are enrolled in educational institutions, the rest are at home. This indicates a vast untapped market of differently-abled learners who can benefit from the Uptyke solution.
Product Description
