About the company

Silabu is revolutionizing the way tutoring and learning take place through its Social Tutoring Mobile App that empowers every learner , teacher, and school to realize their full potential. Through the mobile app, learners can connect with qualified tutors, collaborate with peers, and access a wealth of educational resources. Silabu is designed to foster a social learning environment, where knowledge is shared, questions are answered, and growth is nurtured.

A shortage of quality education for Africa's 700M youths is caused by a lack of access to exceptional teachers, and experts. This leads to a mismatch between skills and employment, resulting in a 60% youth unemployment rate, and one-fifth of African children leave primary school without basic reading skills. Silabu takes innovative approach to solving these challenges through a mobile app that lowers the cost of learning through (1) peer tutoring, which makes teachers less necessary and resolves the shortage of teachers, (2) group tutoring, which allows students to share a tutor and lowers learning costs by 69.15% compared to learning alone, (3) better utilization of a few existing top tutors/schools to teach students at scale via Silabu, and (4) allowing students to request 1-1 help from top tutors on-demand to get a personalized learning experience.
